We may find it hard to admit but debt is becoming one of the biggest problems we are facing at this time.  We all want what we can’t have, that’s human nature.   However,  some people are actually using their brains and making decisions wisely by not giving in to each and every desire they have.  Credit cards somehow assure us that we have money to buy things eventhough we really don’t.  We get so stuck up to buying things we want that we forget what the basic necessities are and what budget and savings mean.  We, most importantly tend to forget living a lifestyle according to what we really earn. 

I like the twist and turns of the movie, especially when she was  on TV and had a hall of fame moment from her credit collector.  Embarassing, yes.  But some of us won’t realize things until we are put to shame  or some sort of punishment. 

Another point i got from this movie is: Addiction can really mess up your life.  Shopping may sound a bit harmeless for an addiction.  But the movie just shows us how bad it is to the point that she almost lost her best friend and the man she loves. 

Each addiction ends up in lies, no sense of time, no concern for others and of course, followed by loss of friends, trust from family and loved ones.   Good thing she got back up after realizing what was happening to her. 

I would recommend everybody to watch this movie.  We all could use a good laugh and a life lesson.

I am not much of a reader, my attention span for books is like that of a 5-year-old unless it is very stimulating and i’m kept on my toes while flipping throught the pages.  Last time I finished reading a book was 5 years ago.  Then one of my close friends back home recommended that I read this book.  Boy am I glad I bought one; Sherry Argov totally got my attention.  “Why Men Marry Bitches”  especially got me interested since it clears up all misconceptions about men and relationships.  Here are some principles which I found interesting:

Relationship Principle 1:  In romance, there is nothing more attractive to a man than a woman who has dignity and pride in who she is.  Now isn’t this genius?  While most magazines tell you to look hot, dress like this and that, color your hair just so men get attracted to you, this book tells you the absolute truth.  Not only does this change your view in men but tells you to respect yourself and be proud in who you are.

BITCH: Sherry Argov’s definition is Babe In Total Control of Herself , not Because I Took Charlie’s House.  Relationship Principle 54 states that: Men admire women who want to elevate themselves up by their own bootstraps, and fear women who are social climbers at a man’s expense.   Now this does not go with superficial lyrics of some ghetto pop songs that we hear over the radio.  Even heard lyrics by one of this generation’s most popular if not  the hottest artists of her time.  It goes like this: “I got a house but I need new furniture, Why spend mine when I can spend yours..”  Talk about draining a man’s pockets.  Now that wouldn’t be the woman a decent man would want as his wife. 

Well, you got some sneak peeks out of the book. You’d better get one fast before you get psyched by all the crazy stuff laid out there by “women for women” mags and shows.  This book is essential for all women and  I intend to pass this book on to my daughter, should I have one.
