Thursday night was all cheesy. Hubby and I celebrated a quite remarkable day at The Observatory in Harbor hotel at Dubai Marina. The view was spectacular. On the bar and lounge area you have a view of the sun setting in the horizon, making The Palm and the Atlantis hotel look absolutely majestic. On the restaurant area, you will see a stunning view of the Dubai Marina sky scrapers.

Anyway, we searched through their menu for some bites to complement our drinks. We found baked camembert, mini burgers and other stuff that caught our eyes. However, baked camembert was the winner. It was topped with honey and star anise that it smelled soooo good once it reached our table. Hubby and I could not resist but dig in right away. It was served with toasted baguettes. It was absolutely gastronomic!

Cheese, mocktails and a breath-taking view of Dubai with someone you love.. Just perfect.

The one and only revolving restaurant in Dubai, and not to mention one of the oldest restaurants, Al Dawaar still has its charm. Located at Hyatt Regency Hotel, along Shindagha Tunnel, 360 degree view of Dubai is what you will definitely see. Along with the view is a bit of history on how Dubai started and how it’s going to be a few years from now.

If you enjoy interesting views such as of airplanes from gatwick airport hotels in the UK or of Paris from the top of the Eiffel tower, then you will enjoy this exceptional view. And what better way to enjoy it than by having a romantic meal for two?

You can look forward to be greeted warmly by their hostess and receive first-class service from their staff. Even the chefs are very helpful and friendly; they explain a certain dish to you if you are not familiar with it.

It was my turn to surprise Mr. Hubby on VDay by taking him to this lovely restaurant. It was the first for both of us so we were both excited with the experience of dining in a revolving restaurant. We had an amazing time; service was good and the food was superb. It’s a bit pricey though but I recommend it to those who haven’t tried dining in a revolving restaurant.

Please don’t forget to bring motion-sickness pills if you’re the type to get easily woozy.

Now this line would make you think of men’s toys like cars, gadgets, etc… This morning, on my usual route toward work, I noticed an ad for Burger King with this Header “Only for Men”: 3 guys a la mafia style and a whopper. I thought it was absolutely horrendous. What on earth are they talking about? And to think this ad is all over the Middle East. Goodness gracious, eat me alive. I mean how could one honestly think that a whopper is only for men? I used to eat two Big Macs a few years ago on a regular basis, now this is more than a whopper. I even ate whoppers for snacks, as my pre-dinner session. Last time I checked, I am a woman and definitely not a man.

This ad is telling us that women are not allowed to indulge in a whopper and ONLY MEN are. Maybe the crisis has caused brain freeze to the people behind this. I mean really, that’s why big companies hire R&D and Marketing staff: to market and position their product to their consumers and attract even more consumers that may be potential market. This is how it’s done and is still being done by companies except for one apparently. How on earth could they possibly think of increasing their market share and revenue with this kind of ad? I have seen silly ads but this just does not make any sense. I hope they pull out of this ad campaign quickly before they see an insurmountable drop in their market and sales.

Ruby Tuesday, an all-american casual dining restaurant is finally here in Dubai. Two franchises to be exact, thanks to Bin Hendi. Dubai has indeed become a colorful place for cuisine. From Asian, Oriental, European and American, you can never get tired of finding a good place to eat.

Last weekend was a Ruby Tuesday foodfest. My man surprised me on Friday and brought me to the Jumeirah branch (Beach Park Plaza) as I was craving for a steak. The overall look of the restaurant was stylish and had an attractive interior with red, orange and brown as its color theme. Right in the center of the restaurant was a salad bar which is offered all you can eat on one of the combos. As we were seated, we took a while to decide on which drinks to have as their mocktails sounded all so refreshing. We had some mocktails and ordered main course straight away.

Ribs, steak, grilled chicken, crab cake, baked potato and steamed broccoli were on our plates. It was superb! The ribs were so tender, the crab cake was divine; flavor was just right and the selection was healthy. You won’t even feel guilty of what you had for dinner until you have their dessert. We shared a chocolatey brownie ala mode and were just ready to doze off right after! That didn’t stop us from coming back though… We ended up bringing a friend the next day. Saturday was seafood fest. We had fish, shrimps and a hefty set of appetizers. The appetizers were actually heavy enough for one meal. To those who want to try Ruby Tuesday, I strongly agree to share one appetizer between two or three people so there’s still enough space for the main course. We had fresh juices and they were still as thirst-quenching as the ones we had the day before.

Overall experience was great except for minor glitches. First was location & parking. We couldn’t exactly find the right road to take as the location’s entrance was a bit tricky to enter. You have to enter the service road along Chili’s first then get in to Beach Park Plaza’s entrance. Parking was scarce so they provide valet. Though staff were eager to help, they needed proper training to give the high quality service they ensure their guests.

I’d say Ruby Tuesday is one of the restaurants I’d love to go to on weekends.
